Comparative analysis of research outputs of academics in Private and Public Universities in South East Nigeria

This study comparatively analyzed the research output of academics in public and private universities South-East, Nigeria. Three questions were formulated for three hypotheses tested at 0.05 level significance. Ex post facto design was used study. Multistage sampling procedure involving proportionate disproportionate stratified sampling, simple random to draw a sample size 1,119 (896 from 1,762 universities) four two southeastern states (Anambra Enugu states) country. Data collected using an instrument titled Academic Staff Research Productivity Questionnaire (ASRPQ). The validated by experts who are lecturers Faculty Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Cronbach Alpha evaluate reliability instrument, which gave coefficient 0.732. Mean answer while independent samples t-test test results among others reveal that productivity both university types is low. Also, significantly better than those more forms output. Academics found publish mostly international journals, had least patents certified inventions. Based on findings, it recommended be encouraged explore utilize other enhanced productivity.
